Therapeutish Tip #1 – Regulation

This is a very short video demonstrating (with the superb help of my daughter Bubbles) her favourite technique for helping you to calm down if you are feeling stressed or upset, frustrated or anxious.

We love this because:

  • You don’t need any equipment
  • You can do it anywhere (car, loo, swing)
  • You don’t stop too soon (you have to do five breaths)

Top Tips

  • Go slowly – if you race the tracing, then it won’t work very well
  • Pick the right time – you/ your child needs to be ready to do this
  • Breathe loudly – go for real sucky in breaths and blowy out breaths (make this bit a game)
  • Do it together – breathing in and out together is a connecting experience and helps you both to focus and slow down
